HSHS St Joseph's Hospital issued the following announcement on May 23.
Representatives from HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital recently attended the Illinois Association for Healthcare Quality (IAHQ) Annual Conference on May 8, 2018, in Naperville, Illinois. At the conference, St. Joseph’s Hospital was honored to receive the IAHQ President’s Quality Award for their poster, “Improving Clostridium Difficle infection rates in the Critical Access Setting”.
This was the IAHQ’s Annual Conference’s inaugural poster competition. Awardees were recognized in four categories and were selected among 15 finalists. The President’s Quality Award that St. Joseph’s Hospital received is provided at the discretion of the IAHQ President and highlights a major contribution to improving quality and patient safety. This prestigious award recognizes a project or program that is a major contribution to organizational excellence, clinical quality, or the broader field of quality and patient safety.
“All the awardees in the inaugural IAHQ poster competition represent an exciting range of quality and safety projects and programs that make a significant difference for their institutions and in the lives of the patients they serve,” says IAHQ President Stephen L. Davidow, MBA-HCM, CPHQ, APR. “Collectively, they demonstrate that a culture of quality and safety is strong in our state. I am humbled and energized by the enthusiasm and dedication of the healthcare quality professionals engaged in this work.”
An important aspect of the poster competition is the emphasis on peer sharing and learning. “Although it’s a competition, the purpose is really to foster a spirit of learning and celebration with professional colleagues for the advances they have achieved,” said Davidow.
Since 1976, the primary purpose of IAHQ has been to provide healthcare professionals with a forum for education, networking and opportunities for professional growth. IAHQ is a not-for-profit association.
