Cost of college went up for all students at Principia College

Tuition and fees rose 3.4 percent for 2017-18 at Principia College, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois students paid $28,920 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year $940 more than the $27,980 charged for 2016-17.

Data shows 97 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 77 students received grants or scholarships totaling $1.98 million and 45 students took out student loans totaling more than $263,500.

Including all undergraduates, 228 students used grants or scholarships totaling $5.61 million.
