O'Fallon Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on June 13.

In Celebration of a year in business, the McKendree MetroRecPlex joined forces with the O’Fallon-Shiloh Chamber of Commerce for a Ribbon Cutting on May 22nd at 5pm. The MetroRecPlex is located at 205 Rec Plex Drive in O’Fallon, Illinois.

“We were thrilled to bring the MetroRecPlex to O’Fallon,” said Dean Oelze. “This facility was developed to meet the needs of the surrounding community and over the last year, it’s becoming apparent that it has been doing just that. Through our open membership programs, discounts, and new classes and amenities; the community has found that there really is something for everyone at the Plex.”

The McKendree MetroRecPlex is part of the Four Points Center, a location that will eventually host a variety of businesses. The MetroRecPlex, however is the flagship facility in the location and is the home to two NHL-sized ice rinks, an aquatic center with a 10-lane championship swimming pool, recreational pool, weight room, fitness studios, and the HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Cardio Center.

“We are dedicated to meeting the needs of the community and there are a lot of great things happening with the Four Points Center and the McKendree MetroRecPlex in the future.” Said Oelze. “We are consistently growing and adding new classes and opportunities for our members. This ribbon cutting with the O’Fallon/Shiloh Chamber is just another celebration of that community and the people that are constantly supporting our facility.”

The MetroRecPlex was recently honored by the O’Fallon-Shiloh Chamber of Commerce with the group’s coveted Economic Development Award, an award based on criteria like the amount of jobs that were created/retained by the business, capital investment for new construction, capital investment for upgrades/remodels, expansion that attracted other industry or stimulated community development, and a business that provides a new or unique service to the community.

In addition to the Ribbon Cutting, the MetroRecPlex is celebrating a new landscape feature outside of the facility. The pathway on the southeast corner of the building will now host bricks that highlight each of the MetroRecPlex Charter Members and their families.

“Our charter members have been with us since the beginning,” said Oelze. “We wouldn’t have made it this far without their continued support and we are so thankful for each and every person that has taken this journey with us.”
