Village of Maryville issued the following announcement on Aug. 1.
Ameren Illinois has posted its new residential electric rate for customers in the Maryville area. Effective in June 2018, the new Ameren summer rate (June 2018 – September 2018) is 0.04658 and the non-summer rate (October 2018 – May 2019) is 0.05150. These new rates are lower than Maryville’s current municipal aggregation contract with Homefield Energy, which is 0.05600. The municipal aggregation rate will decrease an additional 2% to 0.05496, beginning in June 2019 and lasting through December 2020.
The Village of Maryville strives to be good stewards of the community’s tax dollars, and we are always looking for ways for our residents to save money. When the new municipal electric aggregation contract was signed in the Fall of 2017, Ameren’s electric rate was 0.06170. The Village of Maryville believes it is important to let our residents know that they have a choice to opt out of the municipal aggregation program in order to take advantage of the lower Ameren electric rates. Each resident should do their own research to determine what is best for them.
There is no risk for the residents and no contracts. The Village of Maryville feels that it is important for our residents to have a choice in whether they wish to participate or not. If you ever feel that this is not a good choice, you may switch back to Ameren, or any other vendor, at any time by contacting Homefield Energy at 866-694-1262. The agreement signed by the Village of Maryville allows residents to opt out of the electric aggregation program, without penalty, at any time that the Ameren rate drops below the Homefield Energy rate.
