Harmony Emge School District 175 students suspended 105 times in a single school year

Harmony Emge School District 175 reported 105 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 105 students during the year. That equates to 12.6 percent of the 832 students enrolled.

Of the 11 in-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for violence without physical injury. The category includes six incidents. There were five incidents of unspecified reasons. For six incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 94 out-of-school suspensions, 70 were given to boys and 24 were given to girls, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for violence without physical injury. The category includes 70 incidents. There were 21 incidents of unspecified reasons. For 59 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
