According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 1,169 students during the year. That equates to 48.6 percent of the 2,407 students enrolled.
Students were expelled for seven incidents with drugs, three incidents with unspecified reasons, one incident with violence without physical injury and one incident with a dangerous weapon, other than a firearm.
Of the 886 in-school suspensions, 584 were given to boys and 302 were given to girls, all of whom were high schoolers.
The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 873 incidents. There were 11 incidents of violence without physical injury. For 871 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
Of the 271 out-of-school suspensions, 200 were given to boys and 71 were given to girls, all of whom were high schoolers.
The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 177 incidents. There were 59 incidents of violence without physical injury. For 164 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
