A digital ad released Monday by the Liberty Principles PAC showcases how Republican state House candidate Dwight D. Kay is willing to fight House Speaker Michael Madigan to block a property tax hike.
The ad begins with a recording of Edwardsville resident Wendy S. saying, “I’m just not going to stay in Illinois. You just can’t keep taxing homeowners.”
Kay is running against incumbent Democrat Rep. Katie Stuart to retake the 112th District seat he held from 2011 to 2017.

The ad’s voiceover says: “We can’t stop the flight without someone willing to take up our fight. Katie Stuart won’t oppose a statewide residential property tax hike. Stuart sold out Southern Illinois for $1.8 million from Mike Madigan (source: IL State Board of Elections). Stuart is fighting against us for Madigan.”
In contrast, the ad presents Kay as someone willing to fight for taxpayer rights.
“Dwight Kay proved he will fight for us against Mike Madigan always,” the ad’s voiceover says, then cuts to footage of Kay speaking on the House floor: “Well we’ve done the same thing every year, leader, and that’s why we’re in the hole we’re in. It’s pretty obvious you’ve never run a business, you’ve never had to account for money.”
The ad closes with “Stay with Kay if you want to stay in Illinois.”
The 112th District covers the cities of Collinsville, Edwardsville, Fairview Heights, Granite City, Madison, O'Fallon and Wood River.
