O'Fallon Community Consolidated School District 90 recently issued the following announcement.
At their meeting last night, the Board of Education recognized Karen Baxter, Evans Kindergarten teacher, as the "D90 Teacher of the Month"--Sponsored by O'Fallon Fraternal Order of Police.
Principal Keller said, "Mrs. Baxter is one of those exceptional educators who take great pride in her profession and expects nothing in return. Children love to be in her classroom and parents sing her praises often. She is very focused on presenting content, skills and assessment in her classroom each day. She takes great care in planning for each of her students and helping them learn and grow to each of their abilities. She has recently taken a leadership role with PBIS and organizes the PBIS store each month. Mrs. Baxter engages parents in the process by having them volunteer to work in the store and become a larger part of the Evans School community. She most recently attended Kindergarten Individual Development Survey (KIDS) training and Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP) training so she can better meet the individual needs of students within her classroom. In addition she serves the District on the Science curriculum committee. Karen is respected by peers at Evans School and across the district also willing to take a leadership role in district grade level team meetings and the School Leadership Team. District 90 is fortunate to have her on our team."
