The final 2018 Wrestling Coaches Association Top 25 poll slotted the McKendree men’s wrestling team No. 5 among NCAA Division 11 programs.
According to the school's website, the Bearcats opened the season ranked No. 4 in the same pre-season poll and have remained among the elite programs based on strong performances in various tournaments.
At the Battle of Rockies Open at the University of Providence (in Montana) on Dec. 1, Nick Foster, Isaiah Kemper and Nate Smalling all won individual titles, and two weeks later at the Midwest Classic in Indianapolis, McKendree bagged the team title.
The Bearcats were set to return to action over the weekend at the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) National Duals in Louisville, Kentucky.
Later this month, the Bearcats take on Parkside in Wisconsin and Kentucky Wesleyan College in Lebanon before traveling to Indianapolis on Jan. 19 to compete in the Greyhound Open.
