Report: Alton spent $10,990 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Alton Community Unit School District 11 is down 0.6 percent from five years ago, according to a Metro East Sun analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Madison County school district spent $11,057 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $10,990 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 6349 to 6315.

Alton's spending in 2017-18 was 17.6 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
