HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital issued the following announcement on May 13.
National Hospital Week is being celebrated nationwide May 12-18. HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospitals in Breese and Highland and HSHS Holy Family in Greenville are taking this opportunity to recognize the health care professionals who work hard every day to provide high quality, compassionate care to area patients and their families.
The nation's largest health care event, National Hospital Week dates back to 1921 when it was suggested by a magazine editor who hoped a community-wide celebration would alleviate public fears about hospitals. The celebration, launched in Chicago, succeeded in promoting trust and goodwill among members of the public and eventually spread to facilities across the country.
Human Resources Director Jed Driemeyer shared, “National Hospital Week is an opportunity to recognize all of our dedicated health professionals. We are extremely proud of our team of colleagues and we recognize the important role they play in providing excellent care to our patients and our communities.”
Some of the events being held at the hospitals to celebrate National Hospital Week include: blessing of the hands for all colleagues, a colleague award banquet recognizing years of service milestones, sweet treats and more.
During National Hospital Week, the HSHS hospitals in Breese, Greenville and Highland ask everyone to join them in thanking these dedicated health professionals whose skills, care and commitment to excellence make a big difference in many lives.
