City of Alton issued the following announcement on May 21.
Illinois American Water recently sent a mailing to City of Alton wastewater customers to communicate important billing information which will impact customers after the company acquires the City of Alton wastewater system. This has not occurred yet.
The purpose of the mailing was to describe their billing and announce an upcoming open house. Included in this mailing was a sample bill. It is not a real bill. This sample bill has resulted in some calls to Illinois American Water and the City of Alton. We want to assure residents that this was a sample bill only, Illinois American Water is not currently billing for wastewater service.
