Q1 2019 parolees recap: who was paroled in Madison?

There were six offenders released on parole during the first quarter that live in Madison zip codes, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Metro East Sun.

The data shows that all of the released offenders in Madison were men. The median age of the parolees was 31. The youngest parolee is a 24-year-old man sentenced for crimes involving one or more weapons in 2018, and the oldest is a 35-year-old man sentenced for crimes involving one or more weapons in 2017.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest is Birlwind L. Reed. He was convicted of crimes against a person in 2009 when he was 21 years old. He is now 31.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below shows the 50 cities in Illinois with the most paroled offenders in the first quarter.
