ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 112: Stuart to Host Shred Day with Sen. Crowe and Rep. Bristow

112

Illinois State House District 112 issued the following announcement on June 4

State Rep. Katie Stuart, D-Edwardsville, is hosting her free document shredding event on Saturday, June 15 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the parking lot of Lincoln Middle School, located at 145 West Street in Edwardsville. Stuart is hosting this event in partnership with state Rep. Monica Bristow, D-Alton, and state Sen. Rachelle Crowe, D–Glen Carbon.

“I like to host a Shred Day annually because it is an easy and convenient way for residents to protect themselves from identity theft by providing a safe and secure method of disposing of personal documents,” said Stuart. “Instead of throwing out old bank statements, outdated medical records or tax returns themselves, residents can bring them by Lincoln Middle School to know that they will be disposed of properly.”

This event is free and open to the public. However, the shred truck only carries a certain capacity, so residents are encouraged to attend early. Attendees should remove all paperclips, staples and other binding prior to the event and will be limited to two boxes of paper each. Boxes, bags and other containers cannot be shredded or discarded at the event.

“Like all of my other services, this shred day is free and open to the communities around the Metro East,” continued Stuart. “I encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to dispose of your sensitive documents free of charge.”
