Anderson Hospital issued the following announcement on April 2.
Anderson Hospital continues to take aggressive and proactive steps to address the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The health and safety of our patients and staff remains our top priority.
We have an outstanding team of experts leading our preparedness and response efforts 24/7. And like so many businesses in our communities, we are changing the way we work so that we can devote more resources to our COVID-19 needs. We have plans in place to implement for patient surge, staff shortages, supply shortages, and many other challenges. Our multi-faceted team is continuously working with nursing, medical staff, infection control, facility planning, information technology and emergency preparedness staff to create processes and plans to respond to this very fluid situation.
We rely on the Centers for Disease Control, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and the Illinois Department of Public Health as they lead this public health pandemic with best practices. Our staff have adequate PPE and our stockpile is being replenished as supplies are made available.
One of our initiatives for social distancing is the availability for specific staff to work from home. Our COVID19 remote work policy states that if one can effectively complete their job from a remote location, they may be eligible to work remotely. Remote workers must have the appropriate equipment and internet capabilities. Due to the nature of our business, the majority of our positions are not able to perform their duties outside the workplace.
As we encounter COVID19 positive patients in any setting, outpatient or inpatient, we follow the guidelines set by the CDC, CMS and IDPH to alert any staff that may have come into contact. We take the investigation very seriously and even rely on security video to assist us in the process. We have been transparent with all of our staff while protecting patients’ privacy as required by HIPAA laws.
