Godfrey Fire Protection District responded to 173 calls in 2018 - 5.5 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Godfrey included 87 fires - 28 structure fires, 10 vehicle fires and 49 other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $167,700 in fire loss - or about $1,928 per fire.

The department also received 85 false calls.

The Godfrey Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $3,015,327 in 2018.

The Godfrey Paid Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 18 active employees and 15 retired or inactive employees, was $64,512 in debt as of April 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $665 for every fire in 2017.
