McKendree University men's volleyball prepares to host No. 7 Pepperdine on Friday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. at the Melvin Price Convocation Center.
The Bearcats received eight votes in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association after receiving five votes the previous week.
The Bearcats enter the two match homestand with a 7-5 record including a 4-2 record in Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association play which include two wins over nationally ranked opponents including a five-set win last Thursday, Feb. 24 against Loyola-Chicago.
The Waves enter the two matches against the Bearcats with a 7-5 record and a 2-2 record in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play. The Waves have beat three nationally ranked opponents this season including a 3-2 win over then No. 5 USC on Feb. 23.

The Bearcats have recorded 519 kills on the season with 269 kills coming from graduate student outside hitters Ethan Carroll (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) and Patrick Ross (Anthem, Ariz./Boulder Creek). Carroll has 137 kills for an average of 3.04 kills per set while Ross has 132 kills for an average of 3.07 kills per set.
Defensively, the Bearcats have recorded 425 digs as a team which includes five players with 50 or more digs. Senior libero Francisco Comas has recorded 88 digs for an average of 1.96 digs per set. Redshirt senior setter Ryan Serrano has 77 digs (1.79 dig/set) while Ross has 73 digs (1.70 dig/set). Carroll has 55 digs (1.22 dig/set) and freshman outside hitter Kevin Schuele has 51 digs (1.65 dig/set).

Jaylen Jasper has 142 kills (3.30 k/s), Spencer Wickens has 140 kills (3.33 k/s) and Jacob Steele has 130 kills (3.02 k/s). Jasper has a .296 hitting percentage, Wickens is hitting .307 and Steele is hitting .366 on the season.
Defensively, the Waves have 343 digs on the season with 181 digs coming from three players. Trey Cole leads the way with 69 digs for an average 1.57 digs per set, whereas Jasper has 58 digs for an average of 1.35 digs per set and Bryce Dvorak has 54 digs for 1.20 digs per set.

Following this weekend, the Bearcats will play in the Lindenwood Invitational with their first match of the invitational against Limestone University in St. Charles, Mo. on Friday, March 11 at 4 p.m. The Bearcats will conclude the invitational on Saturday, March 12 at the MPCC at 2 p.m. against Lincoln Memorial.
