SIUE's Poston Clears Personal Best at NCAA West Preliminary Round

SIUE men's high jumper Ethan Poston set a personal best Friday at the NCAA West Preliminary Round.

Poston cleared 2.15 meters (7 feet, 0.5 inches) on his third attempt. His final effort came up short of qualifying for the NCAA national championship meet as he finished tied for 13th overall. The top 12 advance.

"Ethan showed up big time," said SIUE Head Coach Marcus Evans. "He put himself in serious contention to make the NCAA finals. He ended up tied for 13th just out of qualifying."

The top qualifying mark was 2.18 meters (7-1.75) by seven jumpers.

"Ethan showed he is one of the best jumpers in the nation today," Evans continued. "I can't wait to get more athletes in this championship environment. This program is destined for special things."
