McKendree University men's D1 hockey and head coach Garry Henson announced the signing of forward Joe McCormick from the USPHL Premier league for the upcoming 2022-23 season.
McCormick, a Tipton, Michigan-native, becomes a Bearcat after playing for the USPHL Premier's Florida Eels during the 2021-22 season. Prior to joining the Eels last season, the forward logged time with the Yellowstone Quake of the NA3HL in the 2020-21 season. In his time with the Eels, McCormick played in 40 games, recording 18 points behind a dozen dish-outs and six goals in the regular season. The postseason with the Eels featured three points in seven contests behind a pair of assists and one goal fired from the forward. While playing in 37 games for the Quake, the forward put up 17 assists while firing 10 of his own goals to total 27 points. McCormick also played the 2019-20 season in the USPHL Premier with the Lansing Wolves of his home state of Michigan, playing in 44 contests with five points on one goal and four dish-outs. He also recorded two goals in three playoff outings with the Wolves.
