Following her performance this past week against Lindenwood and UT Martin, Nicole Kijowski (Channahon, Ill.) has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Kijowski paced the Cougars' defense last week with a combined 64 digs over 11 sets played. She led the Cougars with a team-high 25 digs on Tuesday at Lindenwood before collecting double-digit digs on Friday (21) and Saturday (18) vs. UT Martin.
The junior defensive specialist leads SIUE with 421 digs this season, good for fifth in the conference and 43rd in the country.
This is Kijowski's first conference-level award of her career and the Cougars' second individual award of the 2022 season.
SIUE is 11-14 overall and 6-8 in OVC play on its 2022 campaign. The Cougars will travel to Southeast Missouri on Friday and Saturday for their final road trip of the season.
