A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Lebanon City Council on October 15, 2024. The request was made by us at Metro East Sun, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
The request asked for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, preferably in electronic format. Specifically, we sought a list of all council members with the following fields: Name, Title, Year Appointed, Term (2 or 4 years), and Term Expire Date.
As part of our role in disseminating information to the public and holding public institutions accountable, access to these public records is essential. We believe that as a media organization, we are eligible for a fee waiver.
