The Metro East Sun, a media organization dedicated to comprehensive and accurate news coverage of local governmental affairs, has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City Of Collinsville Finance Department. The request, dated October 25, 2024, seeks detailed information about sales tax collected from retailers since the beginning of the year.
In our pursuit of transparency and accountability in public institutions, we are seeking data on sales tax collected from retailers by month versus projected figures. Additionally, we have requested the number of active retail locations paying sales tax each month. We also seek the names of each retailer and their gross retail sales reported monthly.
