FOIA Request to City of Mascoutah Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024.
In our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Metro East Sun have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Mascoutah. The request was made under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.
The specific records requested pertain to all parking violations within the city that currently remain unpaid. We have asked for details including the name of the offender, their address, the amount due, violation date, and total due.
As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
