A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the City of Alton, Illinois, by us at Metro East Sun on October 28, 2024. The request seeks detailed information about all currently unpaid parking violations within the city.
In our pursuit of comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we have requested records that include the name of the offender, their address, the amount due for each violation, the date of the violation, and the total amount due. This information is crucial in our mission to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to the public.
As a media organization dedicated to gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe access to such public records is essential. Therefore, we have also requested a fee waiver as part of our professional responsibilities as media professionals.
We are committed to keeping you informed about this matter and will continue to seek transparency from our public institutions. We await a response from the City of Alton regarding this request.
