Granite City's Economic Development and Negotiations Committee discusses a property lien

Teardown

The Economic Development and Negotiations Committee for Granite City, Illinois met recently to discuss a property lien.

The first order of business at the meeting was to go over a letter from Mr. and Mrs. Lee Avants about liens for 2532 Circle Dr. The liens are in the amount of $2,898.97. Mayor Ed Hagnauer noted that the committee should forgive the liens so the individuals could tear down the property and continue with their plans. Otherwise, the city would have to spend thousands of dollars to do it. The motion carried, with the stipulation the house is torn down.

The committee also discussed the disposition of a property at 1930 Cleveland before adjourning.

Granite City’s Economic Development department oversees the expansion of the city and the attraction and retention of businesses from other jurisdictions. It ensures Granite City continually develops as a viable spot for businesses to grow.
