Alton City Council met to discuss the Committee of the Whole meeting report

The City Council for Alton, Illinois convened recently to review the Committee of the Whole report, which included various proposed resolutions.

Alderman Charles Brake presented the Committee of the Whole meeting report. The council discussed the resolutions within it, starting with a resolution entitled “Discount and Special Bills Paid.” The council then voiced its support for a recommendation made by the Comptroller and Treasurer, agreeing that billings should be directed to the owners of real estate that is provided refuse as well as the sewage services.

There were a few other important resolutions reviewed. The council discussed whether it was appropriate to remove the Chronic Nuisance Properties section from the City Code. It looked at an ordinance amending the City Code of the City of Alton that pertains to property maintenance. A resolution on bids received by the Illinois Department of Transportation for improving College Avenue was also discussed.
