Granite City Plan Commission to discuss petitions from last month's canceled hearings.

The Plan Commission for Granite City, Illinois, will meet Thursday, Jan. 7, to hear petitions that were rescheduled when the commission’s last meeting was canceled.

The Plan Commission exists to maintain and continue to implement Granite City’s comprehensive plan. This plan is a blueprint for future city growth and development. The commission’s 11 members act to bring this plan to fruition through constant action, making recommendations to the City Council on zoning, land use and subdividing during staggered terms that can last three, four or five years.

The commission meets on the first Thursday of every month at City Hall, 2000 Edison Ave. These meetings almost always include a public hearing during which city citizens have an opportunity to express their views on a given topic.
