In a recent meeting, Highland City Council discussed the recent rainstorm and its affects on the city and examined an ordinance for amending water service and usage rates.
City Manager Mark Latham reported on the rainstorm, noting that his team had made improvements to the storm sewers and completed street and alley work, which have helped limit issues. The city had seven work orders to deal with after the rainstorm, most of which were minor.
When the council turned to new business, it took a look at the water service and usage bill. While the council noted that they would if they had to, they did not want to raise the rates if it could be avoided in any way. After much discussion, the motion failed.
Also of note at the meeting was the council's approval of warrant #1008. After a closed executive decision, the council adjourned.
