The Plan Commission for the city of Alton recently convened for a hearing on leasing issues and a presentation from an outgoing committee member.
Robert McAfoos, owner of 2115 College, sought to lease his buildings to Jason West who planned to run an artistic shop selling either household or car customs. No vehicle work would occur on site. Mobile Home owners renting on the property gave their consent. After the public hearing, the commission voted and approved the request.
Anne Doucleff, before leaving the commission, wanted to make some suggestions. She noted that many old commercial buildings in the city can’t be used for residential purposes, because the city’s administration is pushing for more business to enter the city.
Present at the meeting were Chairman Mark Hackworth along with Joe Blair, Bill Stoutenborough, Barry Clayton, Gary Doerr, Terry Dooley, Todd Harpole and Martha Kane.
