Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville forward Donshel Beck recently received mention on the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Player of the Week for women's basketball, according to www.siuecougars.com.
Beck, a junior from St. Louis, had a career-high 27 points in the Cougars' 78-68 loss to Stetson in the Stetson Tournament on Dec. 19 in DeLand, Florida. She also had 13 points and eight rebounds in SIUE's 83-78 loss to Bethune-Cookman on Dec. 20 in DeLand, and notched 25 points and seven rebounds in her team's 92-80 win over Illinois State on Dec. 23 at home.
She averaged 21.7 points for the week on 53.2 percent shooting from the field and 78.9 percent shooting from the free throw line.
Through the Cougars' first 13 games this season, Beck averaged 14.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Both averages led the team in that span. She shot 42.8 percent on field goals and 67.5 percent on free throws during that period.
