City of Granite City Planning & Zoning Committee met March 21.

Alderman McDowell called the Planning & Zoning Committee to order.
McDowell stated that we would like to change the wording in the “Mow To Own” From 3 year to 1year.
McDowell turned over to the Mayor.
Mayor stated that there are also other factors in the Ordinance that we would like to change. We would like to change the adjacent lot wording and also the we have some people that have been mowing lots for years could this apply to them.
Discussion by the Mayor, Council, Willaredt and the Attorney about the “Mow To Own” Ordinance and the stipulations to acquire the city owned property.
Motion by Pickerell, second by Williams to have the attorney make the necessary changes to the Ordinance “Mow To Own” by amending the 3 years to 1 year, removal of adjacent stipulation and making the lots one instead of 2 lots. All Voted Yes. Motion Carried.
McDowell requested a meeting for 6:00 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. for the next council meeting.
Motion by McDowell, second by Pickerell to add that past mowing to the property and a clause that they would hold harmless the city.
Motion by McDowell, second by Pickerell to adjourn the Planning & Zoning Committee Meeting. All Voted Yes. Motion Carried.
