Rep. Charlie Meier (R-Okawville) took to Facebook recently to update the community on his latest activity, including his co-sponsorship of legislation opposing a bill that asks taxpayers to fund the $100 million Obama Presidential Library in Chicago.

“Our hard earned tax dollars in southern Illinois should not be used to fund the Obama Presidential Library in Chicago,” Meier posted. “Obama should be able to raise enough private funds without having to rely on state tax dollars to fund a library touting his eight years in office. I can’t and will not support a bill in the General Assembly that funds the Obama library.”

The Okawville farmer also thanked attendees for coming to his gun raffle drawing, where he picked up signatures for his re-election in the 108th District, comprised of Clinton, Eastern Madison, Eastern St. Clair and most of Washington counties.

“Thank you to everyone for the support in buying gun raffle tickets and signing my petition for re-election,” Meier posted. “I got well over 300 names and that support means a lot to me.”
