Doug Jameson is all in on what he deems as the growing "fire Mike Madigan” movement.
“My motivation for running is to fire House Speaker Madigan (D-Chicago) over all his crazy policies, and to get Illinois back to work by creating a friendly pro-business environment,” Jameson, a Belleville Republican, told the Metro East Sun after formally filing his petitions to run for the seat held by Rep. Jay Hoffman (D-Swansea) in the 113th District. “Right now, we have overly burdensome government, resulting in the highest taxes in the country.”
Jameson said he is committed to a plan of regrowing the economy and reinstituting fiscal responsibility, something he insists neither Madigan or Hoffman have ever concerned themselves with.

“That’s one thing that separates me from both of them,” he said. “Instead of just raising taxes again, I understand we have to broaden the tax base by attracting more people and businesses to the state.”
To have any chance of doing that, Jameson said there needs to be a detailed plan for change strategically put into action.
“We need a wholesale view of the excessive burden we put on our taxpayers,” he said. “Hoffman voted for 32 percent income tax increase and that’s the wrong approach. We need to be doing all we can to bring more jobs here. The exodus from Illinois right now is overwhelming and the direct result of votes like this. It has a resident leaving the state every 4.6 minutes, and doesn’t give business any reason to stay or come here.”
A retired Army veteran, Jameson recently resigned as chairman of the St. Clair County Republican Committee to be able to dedicate more time to his campaign.
“It’s a critical time and we need to be doing all we can to fire Madigan,” he said.
The 113th District spans all or parts of Belleville, Swansea, Fairview Heights and parts of Washington Park, Fairmont City, Caseyville, Madison and Granite City.
