A meeting of the CPEEC was called to order at 4:00 P.M., Tuesday, Sept 5th, 2017 , at
Alton City Hall, 101 E. Third Street, Alton.
Members present: Jeff Dale, Alderman David Boulds, Wayne Politsch Zeke Jabusch, Deanna Barnes-DD of Dev-, Randy Hausmann
Guests: Karen Eckert, dir of Sustainability-Principia College Jeff Lewis, Principia student
Jeff Lewis (Senior/business major)- summer intern at Washington D.C. dealing with green roofs: stormwater management. temp control.growing vegetables on the roof.Urban Harvest- St. Louis. Type of roof with trays (sedum plants) Collect rainwater on roof. policy to encourage green roofing. gov, private buildings. Tax incentives. city heat island impact.locally had some discussions with Old Bakery Beer. What are some opportunities with partnerships between Principia & City of Alton. Volunteers.? Deanna will send future cool city meeting notices to Principia people.
Randy: wrote several letters to philanthropist for funding of solar panels- 45 acres of panels could generate energy for city.12 million dollars for the total.would the city elected officials support this. Randy will talk to Mayor.
Some planning for our Oct 3 meeting. A join meeting with other cool cities in Southwestern Illinois. Maybe we can meet at OBB?? Focus on energy efficiency / purchase discounts from Ameren. SEDAC. Deanna will make connections with them & design flyer. Wayne will contact Sierra Club rep to discuss Future Energy Jobs Act.maybe get Mayor Walker to welcome the participants???
