Alton Appearance Review Commission met November 22. 

Here is the minutes as provided by the commission:

Members Present: Debbie Schuneman, Margaret Hopkins, Mike Doucleff, Barb Gearing


Members Not Present: Gen Gearing

Others Present: Bryan and Barbie Brynildsen, Carrie Carpunky, Sam Shaw, Building Inspector, Becky Brunaugh, Secretary

A meeting of the Appearance Review Commission was held on Wednesday, November 22, 2017. Debbie Schuneman called the meeting to order at 8:03.

New Business:

Bryan and Barbie Brynildsen with WOW Furnishings and Event Center presented the application for 513-515 E. Third St. They are going to remove the existing WOW signage. They are going to install two new signs, one above each entrance. One sign will read “WOW Event Center” at 513, the other will read “WOW Furnishings” at 515. Both signs will be made of aluminum foam in teal and black with white trim.

Barb Gearing made a motion to approve the application as presented. Mike Doucleff seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Carrie Carpunky with Carrie Carpunky Photography presented the application for 10 E. Broadway. She is installing a 30” window sign, gold vinyl lettering reading “Carrie Carpunky Photography” on the window between the doors at the location.

Barb Gearing made a motion to accept the application as presented. Margaret Hopkins seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Other Business:

Margaret Hopkins made a motion to change the deadline for Appearance Review applications to noon on the Wednesday prior to scheduled meetings. The agenda is to be sent no later than Thursday at 5:00. Mike Doucleff seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

The need for additional commissioners was addressed.

There being no further discussion or comments from the public, the meeting was adjourned at 8:17 a.m.
