Alton Appearance Review Commission met January 17. 

Here is the agenda as provided by the commission:

Members Present: Debbie Schuneman, Margaret Hopkins, Mike Doucleff, Nick Moehn,


Barb Gearing, Kim Lane

Member Not Present: Gen Gearing

Others Present: Lance Demond with Arrow Signs, Hugh Halter, Mike Harvey, Building

Inspector and Becky Brunaugh, Secretary

A meeting of the Appearance Review Commission was held on Wednesday, January 17, 2018.

Debbie Schuneman call the meeting to order at 8:02 a.m.

New Business:

Lance Demond with Arrow Signs presented the application for 219 Piasa St. He is proposing

two signs for The Telegraph’s new location. The first sign will be black on white, 3’ x 12’, LED

lit and will be placed on the side of the building. The second sign will be 24” x 30”, black on

white, non-illuminated and will be placed by the entrance.

Barb Gearing made a motion to accept the application as presented. Mike Doucleff seconded the

motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Hugh Halter with The Post Commons presented an amended application for 300 Alby St. He is

proposing to have the exterior sign hang horizontally, using L-brackets and angled rods to anchor

it to the building. The sign will hang at approximately mid to upper half of the main floor

windows.

Mike Doucleff made a motion to accept the amended application as presented. Kim Lane

seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Other Business:

Commission dates for 2018 were scheduled.

Appearance Review Guidelines pages 1-24 were discussed.

There being no further discussion or comments from the public, the meeting was adjourned at

8:50 a.m.
