Report: New Athens spent $9,770 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at New Athens Community Unit School District 60 is up 3 percent from five years ago, according to a Metro East Sun analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the St. Clair County school district spent $9,521 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $9,770 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 557 to 496.

New Athens's spending in 2016-17 was 25 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
