CITY OF COLLINSVILLE: Movies on Main 2018

City of Collinsville issued the following announcement on May 29.

Head to Uptown Collinsville for a free, fun, family-friendly outdoor event! Movies on Main Summer Series will feature today’s blockbusters and family favorites. This summer’s outdoor movie series kicks off Saturday, June 9th and continues every other Saturday through to August 4th.

The series debuts on June 9th with a showing of Despicable Me 3. From the producers of animated hits Secret Life of Pets, Minions, and SING the third installment to the Despicable Me film series continues the adventures of Gru, Lucy, Margo, Edith, Agnes and the Minions. In this film Gru teams up with his long-lost twin brother to defeat a new enemy, Balthazar Bratt. Bratt, fittingly named, is a 1980s obsessed, former child star turned villain after his show cancelled.

June 23rd features The LEGO Ninjago Movie. In this 3D computer-animated martial art comedy young Master Builder Lloyd—aka the Green Ninja—and his secret ninja friends are led by Master Wu in a fight against the evil warlord Garmadon who also happens to be Lloyd’s father. This epic battle pits father against son in the battle to protect Ninjago City.

July 7th features the throwback film, Jumanji (1995). In this 1990’s classis, two young siblings find and play magical jungle-themed board game unleashes a world of adventure. Their curiosity frees man, Alan Parrish, who has been trapped inside the game since he was a teenager. A host of dangers lurk, crawl, and roar with every roll of the die and can only be stopped by finishing the game.

Showing on July 21st is Coco. This animate film follows the journey of 12-year old Miguel, an aspiring musician, as he journeys to the Land of the Dead to find his great-great-grandfather, a legendary singer, to learn the mystery of his family’s generations-old ban on music.

Wonder wraps up the series on August 4th. Based on the New York Times bestseller of the same name, this inspiring and heartwarming film chronicles the dramatic and emotional first year of mainstream elementary school for August Pullman, a boy with facial differences.

Movies on Main will be held outdoors at the public parking lot at the corner of Main and Seminary. Movies begin at dusk. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Collinsville Jaycee’s will provide refreshments including: soda, water, snow cones, candy and freshly-popped popcorn. Guests are also welcome to bring their own picnic dinner, baskets, or cooler.
