Mike Babcock wants voters to know he couldn’t be more different than Rep. Monica Bristow (D-Godfrey).
“Rep. Bristow’s first session as a lawmaker is wrapping up and we know that she wants a pay raise for legislators and higher taxes for working families,” Bristow said in a press release of his 111th District opponent in November’s general election. “Bristow just voted in favor of a graduated income tax hike crafted by Chicago Democrats.”
The vote came in the form of House Resolution 1025, a declaration in favor of a progressive income tax for the state.

“She has shown time and again that when (House Speaker) Mike Madigan asks for her help in sticking it to taxpayers, she follows along,” Babcock added. “Enough is enough, let’s grow our economy instead of raising taxes and cut spending instead of passing unbalanced budgets every year.”
A Wood River Township supervisor who previously ran for the seat in 2016 against Democrat Daniel V. Beiser, Babcock has based his campaign on a platform of “jobs, lower taxes and finding a way to get the economy moving again.”
