Collinsville FD responds to 101 fires in 2017

Collinsville Fire Department responded to 242 calls in 2017 - 26.7 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Collinsville included 101 fires - 40 structure fires, 21 vehicle fires and 40 other fires.

In all, the department saw $102,000 in fire loss - or about $1,010 per fire.

The department also received 141 false calls, including nine malicious calls and 132 other false calls.

The Collinsville Fire Department had an annual budget of $276,751 in 2017.

The Collinsville Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 31 active employees and 36 retired or inactive employees, was $36,303 positive as of December 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $471 for every fire in 2016.
