City of Belleville issued the following announcement on June 29.
Many agencies are still busy with clean-up from the storms on Thursday, June 28th.
As a reminder to all citizens, please report all downed power lines to 9-1-1. NEVER approach downed lines.
If you are cleaning debris from your yard or street, be aware that downed lines can be hidden from sight within the debris.
Use extreme caution when cleaning up the debris.
If you have large limbs down, whenever possible pull them to your curb and they will be picked up as soon as we can.
Also, be reminded that generators are to be used outdoors and away from windows.
Additional information about generator safety is available at http://www.redcross.org/get-help/how-to-prepare-for-emergencies/types-of-emergencies/power-outage/safe-generator-use#What-size-generator-will-I-need-.
If you know of a neighbor or resident that is still without power, please check on them.
If you are concerned for someone's health/safety because of the power outage and extreme heat, please contact City Hall or the non-emergency Police Department number (618-234-1212) so that we can have someone check on them.
