Retired Jersey CUSD 100 employee Eric Eberlin saved $133,111 toward his pension over 31 years working for public schools, Illinois Teachers' Retirement Fund (TRS) records show.
Over 40 years of retirement, Eberlin would collect as much as $3.583 million, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Metro East Sun.
Eberlin, 55, who currently lives in Grafton, earned $74,335 in his final year at Jersey CUSD 100.
The projection assumes Eberlin will receive 60.7 percent of that total - $45,085 - in his first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.
After three years of retirement, Eberlin will have already received $139,355 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of his contributions to the state teachers' pension fund.
According to the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), 38.6 percent of Jersey CUSD 100 students met or exceeded the standards for the "PARCC" exams. ISBE reported that 56.2 percent of district's graduates were deemed "college ready" last year.
