With less than a week left before voters go to the polls, Edwardsville state House candidate Katie Stuart received another $63,764 from Illinois House Speaker and Democrat Party Chief Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) between Oct. 18 and Oct. 26, state filings show.
The Madigan funding was disclosed in reports filed with the Illinois State Board of Elections (ISBE) by Friends for Katie Stuart, the campaign committee that supports Stuart’s race against Republican Dwight Kay in the 112th district.
The district covers all or part of Edwardsville, Glen Carbon, Granite City, Collinsville, Fairview Heights and O’Fallon.

Madigan’s contributions to Stuart came from the campaign funds he controls, including his own committee, Friends of Michael J. Madigan, the Illinois Democratic Party and the Democratic County Chairman’s Association of Illinois. In all, Madigan has contributed $315,005 to the candidate’s campaign this election cycle.
Madigan spent $6.5 million on 24 candidates between Oct 18 and Oct 30, according to the Illinois State Board of Elections. He has spent $15.84 million backing campaigns for 25 candidates this election cycle, thus far.
