Report: Granite City spent $10,494 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Granite City Community Unit School District 9 is up 5.5 percent from five years ago, according to a Metro East Sun analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Madison County school district spent $9,943 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $10,494 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 6329 to 6160.

Granite City's spending in 2017-18 was 21.3 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
