Touchette Regional Hospital issued the following announcement on Feb. 6.
Touchette Regional Hospital (TRH) announced today that its operating department renovations are nearing completion. The $1 million project started in July 2018 and includes four operating rooms equipped for procedures requiring both local and general anesthesia.
“We are excited to have our renovated surgical suite on the brink of use,” said Sulbrena Day, PhD, chief operating officer and chief nursing officer of TRH. “These renovations have been anticipated for a long time and will give our hospital the capacity to deliver necessary surgical procedures to our patients.”
Nanette Escueta, Director of Surgical Services adds, “Special needs dentistry is one of those necessary surgical procedures Dr. Day is referring to. Touchette is the only hospital south of Chicago that providesdental care to Medicaid children under general anesthesia. With our renovated Operating Department now we can handle the volume of these much-needed procedures.”
New stainless-steel walls line the hallway and new flooring, ceilings, and lighting complete the transformation in each room. Each operating room will serve its unique purpose based on the type of surgical case.
“Creating the best possible patient experience is at the top of our list,” said Joe Jansen, president. “Once we begin scheduling surgeries, TRH will be able to fully expand its reach of surgical services to communities across the region.”
The renovation of the Operating Department is one of several recent improvements at TRH. Just last summer, a $30,000 Sleep Center added the ability to conduct sleep testing and study capabilities to the hospital, and two obstetric services rooms were renovated. In 2015-2016, improvements were made to the front entrance of the hospital and the Behavioral Health & Wellness Center was completed, offering much-needed inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services to individuals across the State of Illinois. Other recent improvements include a $4.6 million renovation to the emergency department that resulted in a floor plan designed for better patient-provider work flow and faster service.
Touchette Regional Hospital is committing to providing the highest level of safety, quality of care, and satisfaction for our patients.
