Granite City home prices fall in the first quarter of 2017

The median sale price of a home sold in the first quarter of 2017 in Granite City fell by $7,750 while total sales increased by 17.6%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From January through March of 2017, there were 160 homes sold, with a median sale price of $43,750 - a 15% decrease over the $51,500 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 136 homes sold in Granite City in the first quarter of 2016.

The median sales tax in Granite City for 2017 was $1,486.84. In 2016, the median sales tax was $1,515.40. This marks an decrease of 1.9%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 3.4%.
