City of Alton Amphitheater Commission met Sept. 23.
Here is the minutes provided by the commission:
Members Present: Robert Stephan, Dan Herkert, Jay Hollinger, Karen Brncic and Ruth Birmingham
Members Absent: Michelle Brooks and Brett Stawar.
Ex-Officio and Guests: Kirby Ontis, Stephanie Elliott. Debbie Frakes Billie Hurst and Dave Thomason.
Robert Stephan called the meeting of the Alton Amphitheater Commission to order at 4:35 P.M., on September 23, 2019, at Alton City Hall, 101 E. Third Street, Alton, Illinois.
Ruth Birmingham made a motion to approve minutes from the last meeting, Karen Brncic made a second. Motion carried.
Debbie Frakes from SSP requested the contract for the upcoming SSP event at the Amphitheater. Robert Stephan motioned to amend the contract, Ruth Birmingham second. Motion carried. Debbie and Robert discussed the layout for the event.
Treasurer’s report was presented. Ruth Birmingham made a motion to approve. Jay Hollinger made a second. Motion carried.
Billy Hurst attended to offer guidance in whatever manner we could utilize him. It is strictly voluntary guidance.
Stephanie Elliott was there to discuss utilizing the Amphitheater as a venue for shows. The Commission will provide dates already booked and rules and regulations for bringing a venue to the Amphitheater.
Robert Stephan brought to our attention that Nelly hit his ticket sales bonus and we would need to pay an additional 5K. We added 370 chairs to this event creating an additional 12K in revenue
There was some discussion regarding the roles of the Commissioners on the Amphitheater. We can no longer just attend meetings and depend on one or two commissioners to make the Amphitheater and the events successful. We probably need to hire someone full-time to take on some of the responsibilities but it is not in the budget at this time. Moving forward we will need all Commissioners to take on ancillary duties outside of meetings. We should probably add one or two Commissioners to help with the duties.
Robert Stephan motioned to adjourn at 5:59 p.m. Ruth Birmingham seconded the motion. Motion carried.
