O'Fallon Community Consolidated School District 90 recently issued the following announcement.
Congratulations to the Todd Stonewater, Edward Jones/District 90 Teacher of the Month, Katie Dollahon!
In their nomination, Ms. Dollahon's principals shared the following:
"Have you ever had a new person join your team where it quickly felt like they belonged there all along?. or even better. where it felt like they had been there the whole time? That's the type of feeling we get when it comes to Katie Dollahon. Coming to us all the way from New Mexico, it didn't take long for us to realize that this new teacher was a perfect fit for Fulton. Did her personality fit with us? Check. Her sense of humor? Check. Her love for kids? Check. Her passion? Check. Her sincerity? Check. We could keep going, but basically. she checks all the boxes! In the four short months she has been in District 90, she has already made a lasting impression on students, parents, and colleagues alike. Why?.because she's genuine and selflessly cares about others before herself. We see it everywhere! She's a team player on multiple staff committees because she cares about enhancing the culture of our school. She teaches PE and science with passion, humor, and purpose and constantly searches for innovative ways to keep students engaged and having fun. And don't even get us started about her impact after the 2:45 bell! She's everywhere!.at our kids' athletic events, band concerts, choir concerts, drama plays; you name it, and she's there. And as we all know, this means so much to the kids. Kids (some who aren't even her students) run up to her in excitement that she came to support them. Parents are excited to chat with her as well because they want to meet this teacher their children keep talking about! To have so many people excited to see her when she enters a room--it just speaks volumes to the type of character she exhibits daily. She truly has poured herself into the culture of the school and used her positive attitude and outlook on life to inspire others around her. She has a unique way of mixing humor with kindness and makes her kids feel empowered, courageous, and ready to tackle anything without fear of making mistakes. You can see it in their eyes.they trust her and know she genuinely wants what is best for them, as if they have known her for years! To say we're lucky is an understatement, but we are so fortunate that she chose Fulton to be her new home!"
D90 thanks Todd Stonewater, Edward Jones Financial Advisor, for his generous support of our monthly staff awards programs!
