Dupo Community Unit School District 196 Board of Education met Dec. 3.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

Meeting was called to order by President DeClue at 6:32pm with the provision of HB476 by the 76th General Assembly having been complied with. Present: Members Stoll, Sullivan, Chartrand, Mushaney, Miller, and Stanberry. Member Stumpf was absent.

A motion to enter executive session at 6:33pm to consider student discipline was made by Member Stoll and seconded by Member Miller.

Ayes: Members Stoll, Miller, Mushaney, Stanberry, DeClue, and Chartrand

Nayes: None

Absent: Member Stumpf

A motion to return to open session at 7:53pm was made by Member Stanberry and seconded by Member Miller.

Ayes: Members Stanberry, Miller, Stoll, DeClue, Mushaney, and Chartrand

Nayes: None

A motion to expel Student #364514365 from Dupo Community Unit School District No. 196 for two years from December 3, 2019, through and including December 2, 2021, based on the Board’s determination that the student engaged in egregious conduct and that the student’s continued presence at school poses a threat to school safety of other students and staff and substantially disrupts the operation of the school and on the Board’s finding that given the severity of the student’s misconduct, there are no other appropriate disciplinary interventions available and the presence of the student at school will foster a culture that the student’s behavior at school is acceptable or tolerated, along with the Board’s further finding that the student shall be eligible, subject to space availability, to enroll in an alternative school during the period of the expulsion was made by Member Stanberry and seconded by Member DeClue.

Ayes: Members Stanberry, DeClue, Mushaney, Stoll, Miller, and Chartrand

Nayes: None

Absent: Member Stumpf

A motion to expel Student #819345502 from Dupo Community Unit School District No. 196 for two years from December 3, 2019, through and including December 2, 2021, based on the Board’s determination that the student engaged in egregious conduct and that the student’s continued presence at school poses a threat to school safety of other students and staff and substantially disrupts the operation of the school and on the Board’s finding that given the severity of the student’s misconduct, there are no other appropriate disciplinary interventions available and the presence of the student at school will foster a culture that the student’s behavior at school is acceptable or tolerated, along with the Board’s further finding that the student shall be eligible, subject to space availability, to enroll in an alternative school during the period of the expulsion was made by Member DeClue and seconded by Member Stoll.

A motion to adjourn at 7:55pm was made by Member Miller and seconded by Member Stoll.
