Village of Smithton Committee of the Whole met Dec. 10.
Here is the minutes provided by the committee:
Mayor Smallwood, Trustees Yoch, Becherer, Rogers, Elbe and Henning were present. Trustee Mourey was absent. The meeting was called to order at 7:12pm.
CANNABIS ORDINANCE
Mayor Smallwood reminded the board that the trustees would need to pass an ordinance that bans cannabis in the village or allow the state to regulate the use if a dispensary opened up. The trustees decided to pass an ordinance that will prohibit any cannabis establishments from operating in the village limits. They will vote on it at the next Board meeting.
RENTAL PROPERTY REGISTRATION/INSPECTION ORDINANCE
The Mayor and trustees reviewed the draft of the rental property registration/inspection ordinance and the registration form that Trustee Yoch drew up. Yoch will forward it to Attorney Durso for his final review.
BUDGET
Mayor Smallwood informed the trustees that he would like to have the budget on the agenda until the new budget is passed next year.
Trustee Rogers asked the board if they would consider putting any budget cut savings towards offering better insurance to the employees. Mayor Smallwood and the trustees agreed to discuss it in the future.
IRRIGATION METERS
Mayor Smallwood and the trustees reviewed the revised irrigation meter ordinance. They will vote on the ordinance at the next Board meeting.
